Adding to its allure of wondrous mystery, the Royal Belum State Park is only accessible by boat via the public jetty at Pulau Banding and contains the most important and significant natural ecosystems and habitats for conservation of biodiversity in Malaysia and the world. This includes the Rafflesia, one of the world's largest flowers which bloom cyclically through the year in different parts of the forest, as well as a variety of animals both big and small, such as mammals like deers, tapirs, river otters, fishing eagles, horn-bills and elephants.
